Brothers and sisters? No

Brief history of the child: This little girl’s story is too terrible to be able to publicize. What we can say is that her mother has a mild retardation and Dulce would accompany her to sell candy on the street. To keep Dulce happy, she would give her a lot of candy to eat during the day. As a result, the baby arrived to us with rotted front teeth. All our dentist could do was to seal them and wait for these baby teeth to fall out at 6 or 7 years of age. Dulce has healed so much in the time that she has come to become a part of our family. She is real comic and it never ceases to surprise us what comes out of her mouth, now she has learned to talk. She is a very intelligent little girl and a joy to have with us!

Brief history of the child:

Her 30+ year old mother and 19 year old live-in boy friend are steeped in ignorance and criminal activity. They, often times, would not give her and her sisters food to eat for a period of days. So, Judith (her older sister) learned to make what she called “Quaker Soup” – Oatmeal, when there was any in the house to give to her little sisters to eat. Her mother would also leave them at a hostel while she would go off drinking and then forget that her children were left at the hostel. Dayana and her big sister, Judith, are now loved and cared for by the Familia Internacional. Dayana is always with her infectious smile that endears many to her!

Brothers and sisters? One brother

Brief history of the child: Talia Esthefani’s background is very bad, at best. We cannot publish all that she has gone through. However, her biological father has abandoned her. Her mother’s live in boy friend is now in prison and the state has taken Talia away from her mother. Coupled with this is the fact that Talía is mentally handicapped most likely due to severe malnutrition as a young infant.

This 8 year-old little girl has a lot of things to overcome per what has happened to her very young life. We will need to work with her over the long term to teach her how to integrate into a normal family. She has a very nice personality and really enjoys being in a home with so many sisters! She has some severe learning disabilities but, because of people like you, she has a much brighter future to look forward to!

Beatriz is a very quiet and serious child who has just recently arrived to our home. She has a sad history of abandonment.  Her mother no longer wanted to care for her and delivered her to her father in the city of Arequipa. Her father, being very poor and living in a shack in a city ravine, said that he is too old at the age of 59 to raise her. He took her back to the high Andean city from where this little girl had come. Upon arriving there, her father delivered her to an emergency women’s governmental office and abandoned her there. In having a good working relationship with this organization, they contacted us at our Familia Internacional office. Within a couple of days, she was brought to us and is learning about love and security and what it is to live in a family!

Afterwards, her mother physically abused her and kicked this young girl out of her home. Her step father never defended her. Being kicked out, she took refuge at her uncle’s home, who also physically mistreated her. She returned to live with her mother, who began to beat her once again. At this point, her neighbors informed the police who delivered her to the court system and then on to us at the Familia Internacional.
